How long is the excavator training course in Uganda?
Our Excavator machinery training course takes 3-4weeks, depending on whether or not you have a driving permit. At Fern Engineering & Machinery Training, flexible options are available, especially for those juggling side work or family.
Do I need any academic qualifications to join?
No. This course is open to anyone with basic understanding. Whether you dropped out in Senior Two or finished university, you’re welcome. This is about skill, not papers.
Will I receive a certificate after training?
Yes. A Certificate of Competence is issued upon completion. This shows employers that you’ve trained on real machines and passed safety and skills assessments.
Can I find a job after completing this course?
Many do. Some are even spotted during training. While job placement is not automatic, Fern Engineering & Machinery Training links top trainees with contractors, companies, and site managers.
How much does the course cost?
Training fees is UGX 1,200,000, per trainee. We allow deposit payments to favour most and every person. It’s a fair cost for a skill that will feed you for life.
What kind of excavators will I train on?
You’ll learn on standard 10-ton hydraulic excavators, similar to those used in road construction, site preparation, and commercial building.
Is this course suitable for women too?
Absolutely. Excavator operation is about precision, not muscle. Women have excelled in this field, especially in NGO projects and urban construction. We encourage female applicants strongly.
What if I speak only local language?
That’s okay. Training is provided in English, Luganda, and can be explained Kiswahili if you do not perfectly understand English. You won’t be left behind because of language.
